Hard Work, Yard Work!

Today I took some time with the boys to teach them the value of hard work and how to operate our new toys, the weed eater and the lawn mower. It's funny how my boys are quite opposite, the oldes does only that that i make him do, while the younger son voluntarily works until theres no work left to do. Both were anxious to get their hands on the new tools, but once the fun part is over my oldest son runs to the basketball goal. I started raking the yard, and my youngest son voluntarily gets his own rake and started helping. Even after I told him it's ok i was only going to do a small portion and stop, he still didn't stop until I did. He really touched my heart. I had to reward him! Now if I can only get my oldest son to follow in his footsteps. Maybe after a few missed treats he'll catch on.

Antibodies and Birth Control Clash

About a week ago, I walked into a shoe store and over heard a guy talking with his co-workers. They were having a conversation about his wife taking birth control and antibotics. These two medications conflicted with one another resulting in his wife becoming pregnant although she was taking birth control. It's well known that some medications do conflict with one another, but the thought of antibiotics and birth control conflicting was very shocking to me.

Creepy Crawlers

Alright guys, spring is officially here, along with all the creepy crawlers that comes with it! I spent most of my morning doing yard work, to keep away all the animals that the high grass and woods bring.  After the kids left for church to practice Easter speeches, I went in to relax, only to have a lizard walk right in my closed front door. I panicked, went to get something to kill it with, because I knew there was no way I would be able to rest knowing it was in here. I was too scared to touch it, so I went for some spray. Only thing that I could think of that kind of smother it and not hurt my carpet was carpet cleaner. Ok, I’m spraying, he’s running, and I’m screaming! After I finally chase him back out the door, which wasn’t an easy task, I’m left with a wall full of spray and a heart racing from all the screaming and jumping. Then once the boys made it home they’re playing outback on the trampoline, and come running in claiming to have seen a snake (which very well be the vicious lizard from earlier). On that note, my next task is to get some lime put down immediately. I said all that to say, enjoy the weather but be cautious of the resident that comes with it!

Kemah Texas Boardwalk

Ok guys, I recently took another trip to Houston.  This time I went to the Kemah Boardwalk.  I must say it was like no other boardwalk I have ever been to.  It's like a mini-fair on the waterfront.  It has lots of attractions for visitors such as: boat rides, a mini amusement park, games like a fair, shopping, an aquarium, motels, food, train ride, an horse and carriage, and a live band all at one location. There was a guy there doing magic tricks balancing a burning chair on his chin. As we walked through there were photographers asking to snap pictures that you could purchase if you like, unlike sitting in a boring booth. It was so much fun, and on top of that it's free of charge to enter.  Although I didn't get to experience everything it had to offer, the setting itself was quite an experience.  I can't wait to go back, this is a great place for couples to travel, and its fun for the kids as well.

Aspirin Reduces Risk of Cancer

I recently heard on a radio station that taking an aspirin can reduce the risk of getting cancer.  I was curious to know more about this so I looked it up online.  The cite I viewed stated that taking an aspirin daily will reduce the risk of colon, lung, and prostate cancer. Test were ran on both men and women and after taking spirin for three days the patients risk of cancer was reduced by 25 percent. Plan on looking further into this to see what does the aspirin contain that reduces cancer. I know some illnesses are hereditary. I wonder if it is inherited will the aspirin still be effective in reducing the risk of getting cancer?

famiky first

My mood today is gratefulness. Sometimes we get so perplexed over people that aren't fulfilling their position they hold in our lives that we become blind to the people who are doing beyond whats expected of them.  So thankful for my brother on today. He is my best friend. He's always there when I call regardless of the situation. Not only is he great in my life, but my kids as well, they love and adore him just as much as I do.  Learning not to concentrate on those that aren't... but to be thankful for those that are.

Monitoring Medications

A friend of mine daughter once hyper-active and once very energetic later  began taking medication for it. Seen by two different doctors, they prescribed her two different medications, one to calm her down and the other is an anti-depressant which left her emotionless. When taking those meds she's constantly tired and sleepy. When she able to to stay awake, she's in a drowsy state. She shows no expressions toward excitement. apparently they aren't monitoring these kids closely enough to realizes its true effect. Each doctor should know the patients medical history and any medications that patient is currently taking before giving more prescriptions.

Massage Therapy

This past weekend my best friend and I had a girl's retreat in Houston, Texas.  We planned a whole weekend on nothing but fun and relaxation.  We treated ourselves to a spa treatment which was a first for the both of us. We had manicures, pedicures, and a masage that included hot towel treatment, aromatherapy, and having our feet emerged in wax, wow! It was great! Not only was it very pampering but educational as well. They informed us on the importance of living a not only healthy but a balanced life. There were other effects that stress can have on you that I wasn't aware of like acne and painful menstrual periods. This is definitely something that I will try again

Beyonce's Babe

There has been a lot of talk about Beyonce and their new bundle of joy. Security blocked off the floor, taped up security cameras, and practically reserved the floor during their stay at the hospital.  I do agree that the couple should have the right to have and enjoy those private family moments that we all value. But my question; is it crossing the line and invading others rights and private time with their loved ones? Any comments..

Determination Inspite of the Situation

It amazes me that most of us that were set up for success makes up every excuse not to make it work. And the more odds a person has against them, the more determined they are to succeed.  At work I had a call from a customer that was mentally challenged, and his level of determination and independence really touched my heart. He was home alone, and called in to fix his phone. I don't even think he could read, but he used pictures and colors so that I could assist him.  Even when someone entered the room that could help him, he continued on instead of asking for help until  we solved his issue.  I heard a local pastor say, "Success is measuredbby how well you take what you were given, and make the best you can of it." Inspite of his situation, he was determined to succeed. I was inspired by his motivation.
